The histories of the peoples of Ireland and Scotland are closely connected, with our stories of migration taking many forms at different times. Ireland and Scotland are steeped in the tradition of education and shared learning, dating back to the time of St. Colmcille, whose monastery on Iona provided the first centre of literacy in the region. Place names and family names across both lands are an ever-present reminder of the intertwined past and shared future.
This gathering, Celtic Connections, is based on this shared tradition and continues the link between Ireland and Scotland's educational progress.
All delegates, from across Ireland and Scotland, share a common purpose: to enhance the student experience and to nurture and support the next generation of leaders.
